Anchalee Arayapongpanit (b.
1985)
Anchalee Arayapongpanit’s practice centres on female figures with distinctive,
enlarged eyes, through which she explores identity, emotion, imagination, and
the complexities of contemporary womanhood. Frequently drawing upon her own
likeness, she transforms self-portraiture into a space where personal
experience intersects with fictional characters and collective social
narratives.
Influenced by
popular culture, cinema, fashion, and imagery encountered in everyday life,
Anchalee places her figures within meticulously constructed scenes that move
between beauty and unease, innocence and defiance, vulnerability and inner
strength. Their expressive eyes function not only as defining visual features
but also as portals into psychological worlds shaped by desire, anxiety,
memory, and fantasy.
Through vivid
colour, intricate detail, and theatrical composition, her paintings challenge
conventional representations of femininity. The female figure emerges not as a
passive subject, but as an active presence capable of imagining, questioning,
and determining her own identity.

ผลงานของอัญชลี อารยะพงศ์พาณิชย์มีศูนย์กลางอยู่ที่ภาพตัวละครหญิงผู้มีดวงตากลมโตเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ซึ่งศิลปินใช้สำรวจอัตลักษณ์ อารมณ์ จินตนาการ และความซับซ้อนของการดำรงอยู่ในฐานะผู้หญิงร่วมสมัย เธอมักนำเค้าโครงของตนเองมาใช้ในการสร้างตัวละคร เปลี่ยนภาพเหมือนตนเองให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่ซึ่งประสบการณ์ส่วนบุคคล ตัวละครสมมติ และเรื่องราวร่วมของสังคมมาบรรจบกัน
ด้วยอิทธิพลจากวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัย ภาพยนตร์ แฟชั่น และภาพที่พบเห็นในชีวิตประจำวัน อัญชลีวางตัวละครไว้ท่ามกลางฉากที่ประกอบขึ้นอย่างละเอียด ซึ่งเคลื่อนไหวอยู่ระหว่างความงดงามกับความไม่สงบ ความไร้เดียงสากับการต่อต้าน ตลอดจนความเปราะบางกับความเข้มแข็งภายใน ดวงตาที่โดดเด่นมิได้เป็นเพียงลักษณะเฉพาะทางภาพ หากยังเปรียบเสมือนช่องทางเข้าสู่โลกทางจิตใจที่ก่อตัวจากความปรารถนา ความวิตกกังวล ความทรงจำ และจินตนาการ ผ่านสีสันสดเข้ม รายละเอียดอันประณีต และองค์ประกอบที่มีลักษณะราวกับฉากละคร ผลงานของเธอตั้งคำถามต่อภาพแทนของความเป็นหญิงในกรอบเดิม ตัวละครหญิงจึงมิได้ปรากฏในฐานะผู้ถูกมองอย่างนิ่งเฉย หากเป็นตัวตนที่มีพลังในการจินตนาการ ตั้งคำถาม และกำหนดอัตลักษณ์ของตนเอง
