Pongputhan Thamdee is from Ubon Ratchathani. He grew up
in a rural community where Buddhist teachings were an important part of
everyday life. After experiencing a society that places strong value on outward
appearance, he began to see beauty in the truth of the body its
imperfections and its natural decline which he believes is
true perfection.
He studied Art Education at the undergraduate level and
worked as an art teacher. Later, he continued his studies in the Master’s
program in Painting at the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts,
Silpakorn University, developing his work by combining his personal perspective
with Buddhist principles.
