Kiatanan Iamchan (b. 1982)
Kiatanan
Iamchan creates densely layered paintings that bring together Thai mural
traditions, Buddhist and mythological imagery, popular culture, and
contemporary visual language. His compositions are populated by hybrid
characters and fragments of social life, forming imagined worlds in which the
sacred and the everyday, humour and unease, as well as beauty and disorder
coexist.
Across
exhibitions including Parallel Universe, Narrative of Giant, and Narrative of
Giant: Follow the Demon’s Soul, presented at Number 1
Gallery, Kiatanan developed his visual narratives from social allegory toward
increasingly complex reflections on desire, belief, power, and the
contradictions of contemporary society.
