The exhibition "Once Upon a Dream" continues Kongpop Benjanirat's interest in exploring the relationship 
between literature and painting by drawing inspiration from Western literature, fairy tales, and folk tales to create 
a new series of works.

The tales of heroes, adventures, love, magic, curses, and supernatural beings that appear in these works are all familiar images for many from their childhood. However, the background of these stories is much deeper than mere bedtime tales. Many of these stories were passed down through generations orally before being compiled and recorded by the Brothers Grimm, who played a crucial role in preserving the cultural heritage and imagination 
of the people in Europe until today.

Beneath the beautiful world of princesses, knights, witches, or monsters, stories of fear, desire, loss, and hope 
are hidden, reflecting the shared human experience of each era. Tales that once comforted children before sleep may serve as a mirror reflecting the truths of life just the same.

For Kongpop, these tales are not merely literary materials but gateways to revisiting his own memories and life experiences. When he returns to the world of fairy tales through the eyes of an adult, the familiar characters 
and events are reinterpreted, becoming a space where reality and imagination, memory and dreams coexist 
on the canvas.

The works in this exhibition do not aim to answer questions or retell the stories as they are. Instead, they invite the audience to revisit their own relationship with these tales, pondering why stories born from the beliefs, fears, and hopes of people hundreds of years ago still possess the power to resonate within our hearts.

Once Upon a Dream is therefore more than just a return to the world of fairy tales; it is a journey back to the source of imagination, memories, and stories that have shaped our humanity since childhood.

ระหว่างวรรณกรรมและจิตรกรรม ผ่านการหยิบยกเรื่องเล่าจากวรรณกรรมตะวันตก เทพนิยาย และนิทานพื้นบ้าน มาเป็น
แรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานชุดใหม่

เรื่องราวของผู้กล้า การผจญภัย ความรัก เวทมนตร์ คำสาป และสิ่งมีชีวิตเหนือธรรมชาติที่ปรากฏอยู่ในผลงาน ล้วนเป็นภาพจำที่หลายคนคุ้นเคยจากวัยเยาว์ หากแต่เบื้องหลังเรื่องเล่าเหล่านั้นกลับมีรากฐานที่ลึกซึ้งกว่าความเป็นนิทานก่อนนอน 
เรื่องราวจำนวนมากได้รับการถ่ายทอดจากรุ่นสู่รุ่นผ่านการเล่าปากต่อปาก ก่อนจะได้รับการรวบรวมและบันทึกโดยพี่น้องกริมม์ ผู้ซึ่งมีบทบาทสำคัญในการอนุรักษ์มรดกทางวัฒนธรรมและจินตนาการของผู้คนในยุโรปเอาไว้ให้คงอยู่มาจนถึงปัจจุบัน

ภายใต้โลกอันงดงามของเจ้าหญิง อัศวิน แม่มด หรือสัตว์ประหลาด ยังซ่อนเร้นเรื่องราวของความหวาดกลัว ความปรารถนา ความสูญเสีย และความหวัง ซึ่งสะท้อนประสบการณ์ร่วมของมนุษย์ในแต่ละยุคสมัย เรื่องเล่าที่ครั้งหนึ่งเคยปลอบประโลมเด็กก่อนนิทรา จึงอาจเป็นกระจกที่สะท้อนความจริงของชีวิตได้ไม่ต่างกัน

สำหรับก้องภพ เรื่องเล่าเหล่านี้มิได้เป็นเพียงวัตถุดิบทางวรรณกรรม หากแต่เป็นประตูสู่การทบทวนความทรงจำและประสบการณ์ชีวิตของตนเอง เมื่อหวนกลับมามองโลกแห่งเทพนิยายอีกครั้งผ่านสายตาของผู้ใหญ่ ตัวละครและเหตุการณ์
ที่คุ้นเคยจึงได้รับการตีความขึ้นใหม่ กลายเป็นพื้นที่ซึ่งความจริงและจินตนาการ ความทรงจำและความฝัน ดำรงอยู่ร่วมกัน
บนผืนผ้าใบ

ผลงานในนิทรรศการครั้งนี้ไม่ได้มุ่งตอบคำถามหรือเล่าเรื่องซ้ำตามต้นฉบับ หากแต่เชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมกลับไปสำรวจความสัมพันธ์ของตนเองกับเรื่องเล่าเหล่านั้นอีกครั้ง ว่าเหตุใดนิทานที่ถือกำเนิดขึ้นจากความเชื่อ ความกลัว และความหวังของผู้คน
เมื่อหลายร้อยปีก่อน จึงยังคงมีพลังพอที่จะสะท้อนบางสิ่งในใจของเราได้เสมอ

Once Upon a Dream จึงเป็นมากกว่าการหวนคืนสู่โลกแห่งเทพนิยาย หากเป็นการเดินทางกลับไปยังต้นธารของจินตนาการ ความทรงจำ และเรื่องเล่าที่หล่อหลอมความเป็นมนุษย์ของเรามาตั้งแต่วัยเยาว์
