“Dream Hero” exhibition by Tewaporn Maikongkeaw. It is his third solo exhibition with Number1Gallery. The artist used mural arts techniques in this art series, which represented the stories and humans lifestyles in each period of time along with the imagination of the artist himself from his childhood’s heroes. These had inspired him to create the art works in the name of “Dream Hero”

These works represented an inequality of our current Thai societies, which the issue hasn’t been solved since the past day till today. In the artist’s opinion, it is difficult to make a change and the issue does not seem to be easy to get solved as it can be affected consistently in our Thai societies. For instance, the rich try to take advantage from the poor, and powerful people bully weaker people and the problem is still going on. Nevertheless “Dream Hero” has been signified from the artist’s consideration that “What if the heroes in each movies and  animations that we admire could become real one day, they would be able to help and handle a lot of existing problems equitably.” As if they were on behalf of the protectors of our Thai society. Unfortunately the imagination could only be the imagination.

นิทรรศการ “Dream Hero (ฮีโร่ในฝัน)” โดยศิลปิน เทวพร ใหม่คงแก้ว เป็นการกลับมาอีกครั้งกับการแสดงเดี่ยวครั้งที่ 3กับนัมเบอร์วันแกลเลอรี่ ผลงานในชุดนี้ศิลปินได้เลือกใช้จิตรกรรมฝาผนัง ที่สะท้อนถึงเรื่องราวและวิถีชีวิตในยุคนั้นๆ บวกกับจินตนาการจากวัยเด็กของศิลปินที่ชื่นชอบซุปเปอร์ฮีโร่ต่างๆ นำมาประกอบสร้างเกิดเป็นผลงานชุด “Dream Hero (ฮีโร่ในฝัน)” ในครั้งนี้

โดยศิลปินถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของความเหลื่อมล้ำในสังคมไทยปัจจุบัน ซึ่งเป็นปัญหาที่มีอยู่มาเนิ่นนานตั้งแต่ในอดีตจนปัจจุบัน เป็นสิ่งที่แก้ไม่ได้  

และในมุมมองของศิลปินเองคิดว่าคงจะไม่มีทางหมดไปจากสังคมไทยแน่นอน และจากปัญหาดังกล่าว ได้ส่งผลกระทบเป็นทอดๆ คนรวยเอาเปรียบคนจน คนมีอำนาจรังแกคนธรรมดาๆ สิ่งนี้จึงเป็นปัญหาอันไม่รู้จบ “ฮีโร่ในฝัน” จึงมาจากการที่ตัวศิลปินเกิดความคิดว่า “ถ้าหากมีฮีโร่ต่างๆ ที่มีอยู่ในภาพยนตร์หรือการ์ตูนที่เราชอบให้มีอยู่จริงก็คงจะดี คงจะช่วยแก้ปัญหาอะไรหลายๆอย่างได้อย่างเป็นธรรม” ราวกับเป็นตัวแทนในการจัดการกับความไม่ยุติธรรมในสังคมไทย ซึ่งมันก็คงเป็นได้เพียงแค่ในจินตนาการเท่านั้นเอง

เทวพร  ใหม่คงแก้ว ศิลปินที่น่าจับตามองจากนครศรีธรรมราช มีผลงานอันโด่ดเด่น  ศิลปินได้แสดงนิทรรศการเดี่ยว และนิทรรศการกลุ่ม มากมายไม่ว่าจะในประเทศและต่างประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง อาทิเช่น Art Expo Malaysia 2019, Art Fair Philippines 2020 และ Art Central Hong Kong 2019
