“Once Upon A Time”, another solo exhibition of Boonhlue Yangsauy with Number1Gallery, artist represents his thought on an unrevealed story in tales and kids’ bedtime stories in different period of times which have been familiar to every one of us. Boonhlue Yangsauy had brought up with the power, religions and particular beliefs from those stories to express through significantly symbolic oil color artworks that related to human social classes and other narratives.

Once upon a time… tales, myths and bedtime stories for kids contain enjoyment and excitement with several unreasonable logics. In addition, to build attitudes in a society through kid’s bedtime story can literally work pretty well. Such as the work of “Knights of the Round Table” a story of a knights’ round table legend. On the other perspective, to represent an awful appearance of a warrior with a plenty of abilities and mysteriously phenomenal occurrences in order to have rightness to run the country; in fact we cannot know what the real potentials of the fighter is, according to the story. Meanwhile this work has left a doubt about the truth in another aspect that without a capacity of a warrior; weapons and the power they had might consequently cause to something beyond our expectation. There are still some more stories that make us wonder and question to ourselves that have these tales really affected to our point of views and attitudes.

นิทรรศการ “Once Upon A Time กาลครั้งหนึ่งนานมาเเล้ว” นิทรรศการเดี่ยวอีกครั้งของบุญเหลือ ยางสวย กับนัมเบอร์วันแกลลอรี่ ศิลปินนำเสนอมุมมองต่อเรื่องราวที่แอบซ่อนอยู่ในเรื่องเล่าหรือแม้แต่นิทานก่อนนอนสำหรับเด็กตามยุคสมัยต่างๆ ที่ทุกคนคุ้นเคยกันเป็นอย่างดี บุญเหลือ ยางสวยได้หยิบยกเรื่องราวของอำนาจ ศาสนา และความเชื่อที่แฝงอยู่ในเรื่องเล่าเหล่านั้น นำมาถ่ายทอดผ่านผลงานสีน้ำมันอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ด้วยสัญลักษณ์ทั้งคน สัตว์ สิ่งของ ที่แฝงนัยยะในเรื่องของชนชั้น และเรื่องราวจากนิทานต่างๆ

กาลครั้งหนึ่งนานมาเเล้ว....เรื่องเล่าและตำนาน หรือเเม้เเต่นิทานก่อนนอนสำหรับเด็ก ในความสนุกสนานตื่นเต้นของเรื่องราวเหล่านั้น เรามักจะเห็นความไม่สมเหตุสมผลมากมาย การสร้างทัศนะคติในสังคมผ่านเรื่องเล่ากล่อมเด็กก่อนนอน เป็นเครื่องมือปลูกฝังสิ่งเหล่านั้นได้เป็นอย่างดี อาธิเช่นผลงานชิ้น “อัศวินโต้ะกลม Knights of the Round Table” เรื่องเล่าตำนานของอัศวินโต๊ะกลม หากมองในอีกมุม การนำเสนอภาพลักษณ์อันน่าเกรงขามของนักรบที่เต็มไปด้วยความสามารถ โดยสร้างเรื่องราวปาฎิหารย์แฝงความลึกลับเพื่อสร้างความชอบธรรมในการปกครอง ซึ่งเราไม่อาจรู้ได้เลยว่า นักรบตามตำนานเล่าขานเหล่านั้น แท้จริงมีความสามารถเพียงใด ในขณะเดียวกันผลงานชุดนี้ชวนให้เราฉุกคิดถึงความเป็นจริงในอีกมุมหนึ่ง หากนักรบไร้ซึ่งความสามารถ อาวุธและความแข็งแกร่งที่มีอาจจะส่งผลในแบบที่เราคาดไม่ถึงเลยก็เป็นได้ ยังมีเรื่องเล่าอีกมากมายที่ชวนให้เราตั้งคำถามต่อว่า เรื่องเล่าเหล่านั้นส่งผลต่อมุมองและทัศนคติของเราจริงหรือไม่
